At Battman and Sons you will find a great range of Herbaceous
Border plants, Alpines and bulbs
.
The best time to restock or to create a new Herbaceous Border
is in the Spring months of April and May. This is when the widest range of
plants is available and with the whole of the growing season ahead, the young
plants will get well established. There is such a wide range of varieties you
will be able to create a border which can give a flowering display all through
the Summer and into the Autumn.
Alpines can be planted in the Spring to replace those plants
that may have perished during the winter, this is when the widest variety of
plants is on offer. Whether you are creating a full Alpine rockery or a simple
container display, with early flowering Arabis to the late flowering Thymus
you can enjoy a colourful Alpine garden throughout the Spring.
To fill your garden with a mass of Spring Flowering Bulbs then
the time to plant is in the Autumn. Bought as dry bulbs in September and October
the bulbs will flower from as early as January with Snowdrops and Crocus, and
give a great display into May with late flowering Tulips. It is also possible
to get partly grown bulbs in February and March from Battman and Sons. When
planted to grow together with spring flowering bedding plants you will create
a riot of colour!
